The Spring European Council - a Beginning for the Energy Union?

This year's March EU summit will focus mainly on the European Commission proposal for the establishment of an energy union. An issue on which there are already heated discussions in the Council. A very large part of the two-day summit will be dedicated on the conflict in Ukraine and the relations with Russia, as well as the future of the Eastern Partnership in view of the upcoming in May summit in Riga with the countries from the partnership. The differences among the member states are very big on these topics but European Council President Donald Tusk is determined to reach a compromise.
