The EU to support automotive industry will be decided by EU ministers today

A common approach to competitive and sustainable industrial policy of the EU will be looked for at today's Competitive council in which EU ministers of economy participate. It is expected conclusions to be agreed in this regard. Among the conclusions will be sustaining a strong industrial base in Europe. The need of state aid will be underlined as in the same time protectionist measures are avoided. Decisions for investments in research and development, innovation, improvement in energy efficiency and delivery of raw material will also be taken as well as speeding of the transition to law-carbon economy.
For the first time to the measures for all industrial sectors, it is expected in the conclusions special attention to be drawn to the chemical industry, electric and electronic as well as automotive because they are worse hit by the economic downturn.
