Decline in EU trade

Bulgaria registered decline in its trade deficit down to 0.8 bn euro for January 2009 in comparison to 1.1 bn euro for January last year. These are the latest figures of Eurostat, published today. Bulgaria, together with other countries, dependent on export or import have also registered serious decline. For example Germany which suffers at the moment very much because of its large trade surpluses, has registered a decline down to 7.2 bn euro. Eurostat reports also a decline in energy deficit of EU-27 to -20.7 bn euro in comparison to -31 last year.

Largest decline in export the EU has registered with Turkey (-44%), Russia (-36%) and India (-32%).
