First test for the new Bulgarian government in Brussels

Adelina Marini, September 9, 2009

After the new Bulgarian government, led by the prime minister Boyko Borisov, received an enormous credit of confidence at home and abroad, today will be the first test for the capacity of the new leaders to return that credit. After the session of the cabinet this morning, the prime minister together with all his ministers that manage eurofunds, will depart for the Belgian capital for numerous meetings with commissioners and experts to prove that they really have clear plans and know well what needs to be done so that the frozen EU money to be unblocked as soon as possible.

The first meeting of the prime minister will be with the Director general of OLAF (The European Anti Fraud Agency) Franz-Hermann Bruener. Then Mr. Borisov will meet the leader of the European People Party Wilfred Martens because the party Mr. Borisov chairs is part of this party. The next meetings are also parliamentary.

On Thursday the Bulgarian delegation starts the discussions with the commissioners. But the most important one will be with the president of the Commission Jose Manuel Barroso in the afternoon.
