The European Kristalina Georgieva

Kristalina Georgieva was named a European of the Year and a Commissioner of the Year by readers of the European Voice. Mrs Georgieva is in prestigious company of the President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet, designated a EU Official of the Year. In the category National Politician of the Year the winners were David Cameron and Nick Clegg - the leaders of the ruling coalition in the United Kingdom. Inspiration of the Year is the Spanish national football team, who became a world champion.
euinside congratulates to Mrs Georgieva, who proved that a Bulgarian and a European are not mutually exclusive concepts. She has managed to make her job as European commissioner for international cooperation, humanitarian aid and crisis response really important and useful both for the Europeans and for thousands of people worldwide.
