St. George day in Patalenitsa 2010
Ladislav Tsvetkov, 7 May 2010
More than 600 lambs were baked in the village Patalenitsa for St. George's day in Bulgaria. According to the tradition this is one of the places where one of the biggest lamb barbecues takes place. A day before May 6, the locals take the lambs to the local church so that they are being blessed. On the next day, people light fires early in the morning in order to prepare the best of the live coals. Sometimes 15 to 18 lambs are baked at once. The everything goes as it has to - eating and drinking.
